Dense is a record shop and an agency for experimental music, but above all, a meeting point and info exchange for anyone interested in music beyond the mainstream. The managers Annibale Picicci, Ed Benndorf and Tim Tetzner have been enriching Berlin 's experimental music scene for years already, as magazine-makers, promoters, musicians and sound-(re)sourcers. Despite these financially not exactly rosy times, Dense maintains its uncompromising commitment to musical experimentation in the face of serious market pressure: a utopian project, indeed. Throughout club transmediale.04, Dense will set up a shop designed by Swiss artist Costa Vece in Maria am Ostbahnhof: a place to meet and communicate, find material by artists participating at the festival and more besides.
