[PLAY GLOBAL !]
January 31th - February 8th, 2003
Maria am Ufer
Berlin

Once more we're approaching an unmissable annual club event: club transmediale - taking place in conjunction with the transmediale festival for media arts - to be hosted this time by the newly relaunched club, Maria am Ufer, which recently reopened just 100 m away from its old venue. After a nomadic stroll that included locations like Haus des Lehrers (the venue for CTM in 2000) and the famous E-Werk in 2002, CTM now returns to where it all began, when in 1999 it was held for the first time at Maria am Ostbahnhof. This also means that CTM returns to a space already pre-defined as a club. But don't worry - it will still be as exciting as it can be - Maria won't look the same after having been prepared visually and acoustically for the grand opening of CTM03 on January 31'st 2003. Anyhow, this time some of the energy and resources that had to be invested into the venue's infrastructure in 2002 are set free to concentrate on the content and further enhancement of the programme.

The 2003 edition will present several new developments:

The discursive early evening programmes with screenings, panels and presentations will be extended.

For the first time CTM has a special programme - [GO EAST !] - where Eastern Europe's emerging electronica scenes will be featured.

The festival theme [PLAY GLOBAL !] provides the keywords for two panels which under the participation of artists, theorists, journalists and activicts will discuss a range of topics from strategies of a musical-political praxis to questioning local encodings of electronic music. The panels will be held at Maria am Ufer and at the transmediale conference in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
