Mark Weiser and Lillevän had their first public performance in 1997 at the Documenta. The idea was to create something new from a confused mass of audio and visual material. Rechenzentrum was born out of this. They work within the well-known contrary identity model. Additionally they deliver illustrious coordinates to aid orientation: Eisenstein and Godard in terms of film, Pole and Panasonic in terms of sound. The two of them want to do more than to allow music to flow into hi-fi systems. Rechenzentrum view themselves explicitly as a multi-discipline art project. Marc Weiser is responsible for the acoustic side of things, Lillevän for the visual side. The location is Berlin. Both of them work in numerous side projects; Lillevän is responsible for the visual side of Tarwater whereas Marc Weiser, as well as providing countless remixes for various bands, also co-organises club transmediale.
They have released on Kitty Yo and Shitkatapult. A recent highlight was the release of their John Peel Session. They are underway in clubs, at music, film and art festivals, in Germany but also in Hong Kong, Croatia or Canada.
