Jan Jelinek, perhaps better known under his pseudonyms Farben or Gramm, is a master of delicate tones and microscopic modulations via sampler. The sound particles rustle, squelch, click and meander so beautifully that one immediately looses oneself in a dense weave of finely-branched sound patterns.
Born in Darmstadt, he has lived in Berlin since 1995. Together with his sampler he has developed an exclusive music-finding art, which is built up on three central elements: jazz, loop-finding modulation wheel and moire. The result is arrangements with a deep-focus illusion of space.
He has released on Klang Elektronik, Source Records and _scape music amonst others.
