Are Dee aka René Desalmand (CH, 1972) was born by the sea and began to play music at the bottom of the Alps. The recorder, the clarinet, the guitar, the saxophone. Studied at the Lucerne Jazz Acadamy. He broke off his studies and turned his back on jazz music. Desalmand now concentrates on electronic music and sampling. But still he keeps his roots in mind using it as an important source of inspiration. It remains his loved antipode.

Are Dee, also known under the name of Lump, produces music for the dancefloor between house and broken beats, vocal and instrumental. Funk. In his own words: "My samples are victims of my personal hunt. And I cut them hard whenever possible. What probably arises from my desire for the tangible. My music wants to suggest something to the audience. Entertainment in which there is no need to give up yourself. Funk. House. Clip-Hop. Whatever."
He also works on audio-visual performances with the fine artist Peter Aerschmann. (www.aerschmann.ch)
