Althea Thauberger is an emerging media artist based in
Vancouver. She completed a B.F.A in Photography at Concordia University in
Montreal and a M.F.A. in Studio Arts at the University of Victoria. Her recent
video and photographic work often involves collaboration with its subjects
and invites both sympathetic and critical reflection of tropes relating to
individualism and self-expression, romanticism and nature and aspects of
youth cultures with which she identifies. Althea has been exhibiting nationally
for three years. Upcoming group exhibitions include "Baja to Vancouver" at
the Seattle Art Museum, Art Forum Berlin and Bambi at the Philadelphia Institute
of Contemporary Art.
She was awarded the Artist Residency with British artist Gillian Wearing
at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Florida, in 2003.
