Telco Systems, formed in 2001, is a joint project by dutch
visual artists Gideon Kiers and Lucas van der Velden. Both are gifted programmers
and consequently their visualisations for electronic music are software-generated
and sound-triggered abstract compositions. The images are characterized by
a clear and sober aesthetic that is closely related to the computer technology
by which they are generated. They form complex virtual worlds, that develop
out of the rules programmed by Telco Systems. Kiers and Van der Velden do
also webart projects under the name of 0010 and collaborate under various
aliases as D:U:M:B, DLF and minuszero. The last one they usually use when
illustrating the music of Speedy J. Besides his artistic work Lucas van der
Velden is part of the V2 - Institute for Unstable Media in Rotterdam and
co-curator for the Sonic Acts festival in Amsterdam. Their latest project
TELCOH is a collaboration with Russian musician Ivan Pavlov aka COH and was
presented at last years club transmediale.03.
