Microstoria is a side project of Oval's Markus Popp and
Jan St. Werner of Mouse on Mars. The group debuted with two albums on Mille
Plateaux and Thrill Jockey. This project is the encounter of two pioneers
of what is now called "glitch music". The engaging techno-exotica
of St. Werner and the very abstract sound scapes of Oval come together to
form
a digital music based on the reproduction and replication of industry standards.
A jump or skip is no longer a problem or a fault, but a musical gesture in
its own right. Jan St. Werner also runs the Sonig label based in Cologne.
Markus Popp recently started his new critically project SO, a joint venture
with Japanese songwriter/producer Eriko Toyoda.
