Screening > MAO > Lounge

The third screening programme in a series curated by WORM focuses on the past of (abstract) computer generated films and video. Desktop Visuals gives an insight in the complex relations between commercial, scientific and artistic interests in the field of computer generated images, starting in the 80ties when a new sort of hyperrealism became an objective of the computer industry. The computer became the machine, which would help western culture to its goal of a synthetic re-creation of reality. The screening consists of a short historical part of "primitive" videos, which where produced by artists mainly interested in the possibilities of modern technology and who wanted to create "a new vision, coming from machines which couldn't be created by nature". Followed up by more recent experiments with real time generated sound and image.
