Inke Arns lives in Berlin. She is an independent media art curator and a PhD candidate at the Institute of Slavistics at the Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. In her PhD thesis "Objects in the Mirror may be Closer Than They Appear: The Avantgarde in the Rear-View Mirror" she researches the reception of the historical avant-garde in artistic projects of the 1980s and 90s in ex-Yugoslavia and Russia. After spending four years in Paris (1982-86) she studied Eastern European cultural studies, Slavistics, Political Science, and Art History at the Free University Berlin and The University of Amsterdam. From 2000 she was a lecturer at the Institute of Slavistics at the Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. From 2002 she also taught seminars at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig.
