Thomas Fehlmann, born in Switzerland, founded together with Holger Hiller the avantgarde band Palais Schaumburg in 1979 in Hamburg. He moved to Berlin in 1994 and after the band's break up he dedicated himself to his home studio and the sampler. At the end of the 1980s he reached England with his label "teutonic beats" (compilations with contributions from artists like Jörg Burger, Wolfgang Voigt, Sun Electric and Westbam). Alex Patterson was developing his concept for The Orb and Thomas Fehlmann became co-producer. Additionally, in the next few years the contacts to Daniel Miller (Mute) and Tresor Berlin were strengthened. Together with Moritz von Oswald and Juan Atkins the project "3mb" was created and so the Berlin-Detroit connection was established.
Since 1995 he has been an activist with the legendary Berlin-based Ocean Club, which since 1998 has been broadcasting a radio show - now worldwide. After releases on Plug Research and _scape amongst others, his album "Visions of Blah" has just appeared on Kompakt.
